Why Does My Furnace Blow Cold Air in Roll and Tacna, AZ?
The only time your furnace should blow cold air is when you set it to Fan mode. At your home in Roll or Tacna, AZ, you could have one or more things wrong with your furnace if it is blowing cold air. Read on to find out about them.
Soiled Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is a safety device. It’s a small piece of metal that creates a tiny electric current when fire hits it. Then, it sends that current to the furnace board to tell the furnace that the burners are on.
If foreign matter is on the flame sensor, it won’t send that current. The furnace will think the flame is off and will shut off the flow of gas as a precaution. Sometimes, the furnace will keep blowing air even though the burners are off.
Clogged Condensate Line
A condensate line is a hose or pipe that leads water condensation out of your furnace and deposits it elsewhere — typically to the outside or into a drain or sink inside. Unfortunately, debris can accumulate inside the condensate line and block it.
When the dirt piles up, the water flows backward. In this situation, the burners also turn off as a safety measure, resulting in cold air coming from the vents.
Leaks in the Ductwork
With holes in your system’s ducts, cool air flows in and mixes with the warm air from the furnace. That can result in cooler air coming from the vents. Never try to fix ducts yourself because repairing them is a pro’s job.
